Jose Vazquez

Vazquez is in his seventh season with the Rangers as the club’s strength and conditioning coach. Jose has led the organization’s re-commitment to first class conditioning at all levels. He has worked with the front office to hire full-time strength coaches at every affiliate. He also oversees the major league club’s nutrition program. He spent the previous four seasons with the New York Mets as that club’s Director of Rehab (2005) and Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coordinator (2002-2004). Prior to joining the Mets, he was the Sports Physical Therapist for the Therapy Center in Knoxville, Tenn. and Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, Tenn. from 1998-2001. In 1998, he was a co-founder of TNT sports specific training in Knoxville. After earning second team All-American honors at the University of Tennessee in 1992, Vazquez was selected by St. Louis in the 42nd round of the 1992 June draft. He played professionally for three seasons as an outfielder in the Cardinals organization and for the Northern League’s Duluth club. Vazquez graduated from Tennessee with a BS degree in education in 1994 and received his masters of physical therapy from Nova Southeastern in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. in 1998. In his spare time, he has been training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for the past five years. He and his wife, Anne, reside in Mansfield with two daughters, Josannah (13) and Helena (9), and son Kian (1).
