Jenny Conviser

Jenny H. Conviser, Psy.D, CEDS, CC-AASP Founder and CEO of Ascend Consultation in Health Care, LLC, Jenny H. Conviser is a licensed clinical psychologist, an assistant professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences in the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University, and a staff member at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. She holds certificates of training in behavioral medicine from the University of Chicago, in family and child psychotherapy from the Family Institute of Northwestern University, and as an eating disorder specialist (CEDS) from the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (IAEDP). With a master’s degree in exercise science, seven years as a NCAA Division I head gymnastics coach (University of Wisconsin, Madison), and a certification in sport psychology from the Association for Applied Sport Psychology, Conviser directs sport psychology services at DePaul University, as well as works with athletes, musicians, parents, and coaches across the nation to assist them in achieving excellence in performance and competition. She also has provided sport psychology services for the United States Figure Skating national champion silver medalist (2013), gold medalist (2014), and 2014 Sochi Olympian, Gracie Gold. In addition, she has annually conducted mental training for the United States Figure Skating senior, elite, individuals, pairs, and dance national teams. Conviser is a member of the Advocacy and Communication Committee for the Academy of Eating Disorders (AED), participating in campaigns to reduce weight-related stigma, arguing for reduced use of body mass index measurement in the school settings, and advocating for healthy weight-related depiction of children in television programming. Furthermore, she has pioneered research and conducted targeted education in an effort to reduce weight-related stigma in the exercise, wellness, and fitness arenas. As a member of the psychosocial committee of the Illinois chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (ICAAP), Conviser participates in research, policy development, and physician training for the Pediatric Obesity Prevention Initiative for the development and implementation of physician/patient communication training programs that are designed to improve children’s health and well-being throughout the state of Illinois. Conviser is regularly consulted for senior professional staff training in a number of highly regarded institutions, providing staff training, program development, and intensive care for the most critically ill, including life-threatening eating disorders, trauma, co-occurring addictions, mood disorders, and anxiety disorders. As founder and president of Ascend Consultation in Health Care, LLC, she provides clinical behavioral health care service in the Midwest, including offering prevention and awareness programming, improving access to behavioral health care, and dispensing financial support to individuals in remote locations.
