Tony Dungy with James A. Peterson

Tony Dungy is a retired NFL coach, who currently serves as a studio color analyst on NBC’s weekly Sunday Night Football pregame show, Football Night in America. One of the most respected individuals ever associated with the game, Dungy was part of two Super Bowl- winning programs, once as the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts (XLI) and once as a player for the Pittsburgh Steelers (XIII).

Dungy’s Pro Football Hall of Fame coaching career featured several notable firsts. Among them, he was the first NFL head coach to defeat all (32) NFL teams, and he became the youngest coordinator in NFL history at age 28. A protégé of legendary Steelers’ coach Chuck Noll, as well as a part of the Bill Walsh coaching tree – both of whom are enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Dungy exhibited the same admirable philosophy as a highly successful coach that he displays in life: he treats those with whom he interacts with respect and civility. He emphasizes the point that coaches are teachers, individuals who should put faith and family ahead of football and who should commend – not belittle – their athletes.

Dungy is the author of the New York Times best-selling memoir, Quiet Strength: The Principles, Practices, and Priorities of a Winning Life. Currently, he also serves as the national spokesman for the fatherhood program All Pro Dad.
