Dennis Harris

Dennis Harris retired as Athletic Director, Head Football Coach, at Dallas Thomas Jefferson in 2002. He is a 1963 graduate of the University of Illinois and received his Master of Science degree from the same school in 1974. His coached football for 39 years at the high-school level, and had 18 years’ experience as a head football coach. He spent 19 years coaching in Illinois, where he was the head football coach at St. Philip High School and Bloom High School. He spent his final 20 years coaching in Texas, filling head coaching positions at Forney High School, Garland High School, and Thomas Jefferson. His defensive background is extensive and includes 22 years as a defensive coordinator. He has been defensive coordinator for playoff teams at Mesquite, Garland, and Duncanville. The 1996 Duncanville team was 10-0. He has lectured at numerous football clinics, including the 1996 AFCA convention. He has had several defensive articles published in Texas Coach magazine. Dennis has been married to his wife, Gloria, for 40 years. They have two children, Gloria and Pat. Gloria is an English teacher in Keller, Texas, and Pat is an English teacher and football assistant at Irving Nimitz High School.
