Greg King

Greg King is the head football coach at Sterling (IL) High School, a position he assumed in 2002. During his six years at the helm of the Golden Warriors’ gridiron program, he has led SHS to a stellar 44-18 record. A 1985 graduate of Augustana College, where he played as an offensive lineman on two national championship teams and served as the captain of the Vikings’ 1984 national championship team, King has been coaching football for more than two decades. He began his career as an assistant coach (defensive coordinator) at Bushnell Prairie City (IL) High School, a position he held for three seasons before serving as the head coach of the Spartans’ football program for a year. He then spent a season as an assistant coach at his alma mater. Next, he served as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Rock Island (IL) High School for ten seasons. Widely respected as one of the top interscholastic coaches in the game, King was named Sauk Valley Area Coach of the Year in 2002.
