Brad Lawing

Brad Lawing is the defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of North Carolina, a position he assumed in 2003. Previously, he held the same responsibilities for four seasons on the staff at Michigan State. During Lawing’s tenure with the Spartans, Michigan State twice led the Big Ten in total defense. Prior to that, Lawing coached 10 years at South Carolina (1989-’98). A graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College, Lawing began his coaching career on the interscholastic level (1980-’83), before accepting his first college coaching position at Appalachian State (1983-’88). A number of his former players have been drafted by the NFL, including Julian Peterson and John Abraham.
