Jim Murphy

Jim Murphy, MHK, CSCS*D, CPT*D, is an author, coach, and the mental skills coach for Baseball Player University (FoxSports Net). An NSCA-certified strength and conditioning specialist, he has been involved in pro baseball for a number of years, playing in the Chicago Cubs organization, before moving on to scouting and coaching. He received his undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Washington and his graduate degree in human kinetics at the University of British Columbia. At UBC, he started the Thunderbirds’ baseball team for the University, which is now a member of the NAIA. He also became the NSCA baseball division chairman and is the past NSCA director for British Columbia. At the 2000 Sydney Olympics he served as the hitting and conditioning coach for South Africa, helping lead them to several unexpected victories.
