Gene Keady

Gene Keady is the former head men's basketball coach at Purdue University, a position he held for 25 seasons (1980-2005). One of the nation's most respected coaches in the history of the game, Keady retired as Purdue's all-time winningest coach. His illustrious Boilermaker career includes six Big Ten championships and 23 post-season tournament appearances. For his accomplishments, Keady was honored numerous times, including being named Big Ten Coach of the Year seven times and National Coach of the Year six times. Prior to coming to Purdue, Keady served a two-year stint as head coach at Western Kentucky and a three-year tour as an assistant coach at Arkansas. A graduate of Kansas State where he was a three-sport star, Keady played briefly in the NFL as a quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers before joining the basketball coaching ranks.
