Richard Bell

Richard Bell is a graduate of the University of Arkansas playing three years as a outside linebacker and tight end.Bell was captain of the 1958 Arkansas team in Frank Broyles’first season as head coach of the Razorbacks.After college Bell coached 46 years on the collegiate level having the opportunity to go to 17 bowl games during this period.He had the privilege to coach at VMI,Georgia Tech,West Virginia,Texas Tech,South Carolina,Duke East Carolina,Georgia,Navy and Air Force.He was defensive coordinator at eight of these schools.After retirement in 2006 Bell consulted and fulfilled a long time dream of writing a book(Winning Defensive Football).In 2010 he realized how much he missed coaching so took a high school position as defensive coordinator at Prince Avenue Christian School in Athens,Georgia.It was exciting to get back into high school coaching as he had begun his career as a high school football coach at Walnut Ridge,Arkansas.Bell and his wife Marilyn have four children and eight grandchildren.
