Michael A. Cieri (Mike)

Michael A. Cieri is a coaching veteran of 42 seasons, including 35 college seasons. Cieri is the defensive line coach and special teams coordinator for the 10th winningest Division III football program in the country: Montclair State University. As the run coordinator at MSU, Cieri has helped the Red Hawk defensive line to be #1 in rush defense seven times in the last 12 seasons, and his defensive lines have led the New Jersey Athletic Conference with the most quarterback sacks (77) and 58 battered passes over that same time period. During that same time span, MSU has won three NJAC championships and appeared in five post-seasons, including three NCAA Division III plays reaching the Sweet 16 and an ECAC championship. Since 2003, at least one member of the defensive line has been represented on the NJAC All-Conference Team.

Cieri has authored several articles including “Reinforcing Critical Punt Pressure Skills” in the January/ February 2014 issue of This Is AFCA. In addition, Cieri has published three articles in American Football Monthly, and authored the book 101 Winning Special Teams and Defensive Line Drills. Also, Cieri has produced 13 DVDs on special teams and defensive line play.
