Gibson has been with Pleasant Grove for six years. The Hawks have played in the state finals the last three seasons and won the 2017 and 2019 championships in Class 4A, Division II.39 of 40 teams have advanced to the playoffs, and seven different programs have advanced to state competitions. A 1997 graduate of Huntsville high school in Huntsville, Texas, Josh Gibson was a four-year football letterwinner for Howard Payne University from 1997-2000. A multi-year Academic All-Conference selection, Josh would play under his father Vance Gibson who was the Howard Payne head football during his time as a Yellow Jacket.
