Marty Schaetzle begins his 19th season at the helm of the Mercyhurst football program. Over his first 18 seasons, Schaetzle has guided the Lakers to a 93-105 overall record and a 62-84 mark in conference play.
Schaetzle surpassed Joe Kimball as the longest tenured football coach in program history and his 87 wins are the most ever by a Mercyhurst football coach.
Schaetzle came to Mercyhurst from Division I-AA Bucknell in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, where he worked as an assistant for five seasons. He began his Bucknell tenure by focusing on the tight ends and tackles before being promoted to offensive coordinator in 1999.
