Paul Crowley was named the third Head Football Coach in Christopher Newport University, (VA), history on December 8, 2021, after serving as the program’s interim coach for just over a month. The former standout Captains offensive lineman will enter his 14th season of college coaching in 2022, and his 12th at CNU. In addition to serving as Head Coach, he will also mentor the Captains’ quarterbacks. Crowley served on the staff of Matt Kelchner for eight seasons from 2009-2016, as well as the staff of Art Link for three years from 2019-2021. Christopher Newport’s primary play-caller during the 2015 and 2016 campaigns, Crowley led the Captains’ to two of the top four passing seasons in school history. In addition to the accolades earned by the Captains’ signal-callers during those two seasons, Crowley also produced an all-conference standout during every season in which he was a full-time coach. The Virginia Beach native left Christopher Newport and spent two seasons coaching the running backs at the College of William and Mary in 2017 and 2018, He returned to the Captains’ coaching staff in 2019. A First Team All-USA South Center with the Captains, Crowley played for CNU from 2005-08. He was also a first-team All-Virginia selection in Division II-III. Crowley was born in Midland, Texas. He and his wife, Tayler Stanley-Crowley, reside in Toano, VA.
