Peter Twist
Peter Twist, MPE, CSCS, is the Coach of Conditioning and Player Development for the Vancouver Canucks of the NHL, a position he has held since 1993. Twist is also the owner/operator of Twist Conditioning, Inc., a North Vancouver-based company that conducts weekly sport-specific conditioning camps for athletes of all ages, fitness levels, and competitive interests. Twist has authored over 100 articles on athlete development in scientific journals and popular media. An exercise physiologist and sport scientist, Twist has also written two books on hockey conditioning, plus chapter contributions for two other books. He is co-editor of the Journal for Hockey Conditioning and Player Development. A past-Provincial Director of the NSCA (1994-’98), Twist was the 1998 recipient of the NSCA’s President’s Award, given annually to a North American coach who has shown performance excellence and dedication to the fields of coaching and athletic development. His research and authoring of conditioning articles led to the development of the Hockey Conditioning Coaches Association for the NSCA.
