Tyler Hopperton enters his third season as the Head Football Coach of the Mount St. Joseph University Lions and his eighth season overall as part of the Lions’ Football staff in 2019-2020. Hopperton also serves as the Lions’ Special Teams Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach.
Mount St. Joseph’s 2018 Campaign ended with an 8-2 overall record and a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Co-Championship, the program’s 5th overall. Hopperton was also named by the American Football Coaches Association to the “35 Under 35” Leadership Institute of 2019. As a position coach and coordinator, Hopperton has coached 2 USA All-Americans, a Conference Special Teams Player of the Year, and an NCAA Statistical Champion for Punt Return Average.
Hopperton graduated from the Mount in 2012 after a playing career that ended with him as a co-captain, First-Team HCAC All-Conference, All-Ohio, MSJ Defensive Player of the Year, and was chosen to play in the Ohio Army National Guard Senior Bowl in 2012.
