Henry Stanford

Henry Stanford will enter his second season as head coach of the football program. He also serves as the offensive coordinator, a role he has held with the Terriers since 2013. Coach Stanford comes to Hiram following a five-year stay at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. During his tenure with the Crusaders Coach Stanford served as the Wide Receivers coach, Quarterbacks coach, Offensive Coordinator, and spent his final three seasons as the Head Coach, where he posted 12 wins over three seasons. Prior to his Head Coach appointment, Coach Stanford was selected as the OAC Assistant Coach of the Year in 2009. During Coach Stanford’s career, he has coached at Elmhurst (Ill.) College (2004-08), Tiffin University (1999-2000, 2003-04), Kenyon College (2002-03), Otterbein University 2000-02), and Ohio State University as student assistant (1996-99). While at Elmhurst, Coach Stanford served as the Associate Head Coach, Recruiting Coordinator, and Offensive Coordinator. As the Offensive Coordinator, Coach Stanford’s teams posted the third-highest scoring offense and third-highest total offense in the history of the program. Stanford served as an assistant coach while at Tiffin, Kenyon, Otterbein and Ohio State. Coach Stanford was also awarded a summer internship with the Cincinnati Bengals as part of the NFL Minority Fellowship Program. Coach Stanford is a 1998 graduate of The Ohio State University where he earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology, and went on to earn his Masters Degree at Tiffin University. Stanford is a member of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and served on the Board of Coaches in 2012. He was a member of Black Coaches and Administrators organization.
