Bruce Weber

Bruce Weber is the head men’s basketball coach at the University of Illinois, a position he assumed in 2004. His achievements at Illinois include making a post-season appearance each of his first three seasons at the helm. Before becoming the coach of the Illini men's program, he served in the same position at Southern Illinois. Weber’s teams are known for their aggressive fundamentally sound style of defense. Prior to his arrival on the Carbondale campus, Weber served as an assistant coach for seventeen seasons under Gene Keady at Purdue. A 1978 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Weber spent a year as an assistant at Western Kentucky before joining the Boilermakers' staff. In 2005, he swept the National Coach of the Year awards for his exceptional coaching accomplishments that season.
