Leon McKenzie

Leon McKenzie stands as a towering figure in the world of high school track and field coaching, with a career that has not only shaped the success of Benson High School’s track teams but also left an indelible mark on Oregon’s track and field landscape. His impressive tenure and accomplishments position him as an expert in his field, earning him widespread respect and accolades. Coach McKenzie’s career spans an 44 years, 35 as the head coach. His achievements include 11 State Championships, 7 runners-up finishes, four 3rd place and three 4th places. Additionally, Coach McKenzie was twice named National High School Coach of the Year, Regional Coach of the Year and Oregon Prep Coach of the Year 15 times.
