Taylor Chapatte joined the San Diego for his first season in 2018 as an assistant coach overseeing the wide receivers. Chapatte coached a prolific group of wide receivers during his inaugural season that helped the Toreros offense finish the season ranked among the top in the FCS. USD concluded the regular season ranked second in passing offense (353.1), third in team passing efficiency (353.1), seventh in completion percentage (.659), eighth in scoring offense (39.3), 10th in total offense (486.9) and 15th in passing yards per completion (15.09).
Chapatte joined USD after spending the past three seasons at the University of Puget Sound, where he coached the wide receivers (2015-16), quarterbacks (2017-18) and served as the recruiting coordinator. He played a key role in leading the offense and helped lead the team to its most conference wins in school history during 2015.
