Richard Borden

Richard Borden, Ph.D., CSCS, is a Professor Emeritus of Physical Therapy at Northern Arizona University. Dr. Borden has an extensive background with the National Strength Conditioning Association. He has served on the NSCA’s Board of Directors since 1993. In addition, he has fulfilled numerous committee and speaker roles for the NSCA. In 2000, he was elected to a three-year term as the President of the NSCA. With an undergraduate degree in zoology from Arizona State University and graduate degrees from The Ohio State University, the University of Kentucky, and the Union Institute, Dr. Borden has had a broad-based professional career. He has held staff positions at UCLA, the University of Kentucky, the Medical University of South Carolina, St. Francis Xavier Hospital (Charleston, S.C.), and Northern Arizona University. He has served as a strength coach, Dean of the College of Health Professions, and executive director of the High Altitude Sports Training Complex. Widely respected throughout the strength and conditioning professional community, he is a prolific author and speaker.
