Jerry Tarkanian

Jerry Tarkanian is the former head men's basketball coach at Fresno State. After spending 38 seasons as a collegiate basketball head coach (including the last seven at the helm at Fresno State), Tarkanian retired in March 2002. In 30 seasons of Division I coaching, Tarkanian finished his career with a record of 778-202 and was just the 12th coach to reach 700 career wins. His winning percentage of .803 is the fourth best of all-time in NCAA annals. During his illustrious career, Tarkanian led his teams to four appearances in the NCAA Final Four, one national championship (UNLV in 1989–1990), and a 38-18 record in 18 NCAA tournament appearances. Over his 30-year major college coaching career, Tarkanian's teams averaged 25.3 wins per season. One of the most honored coaches in the history of the sport, he has been named (regional, conference, and national) Coach of the Year numerous times.
