No game is quite so demanding as football, and no position in football demands that a player deal with as many technical aspects of the game as does that of quarterback. These demands are not only physical, but also emotional and mental. A quarterback must attempt to gain a confident hold on his material so that the information and knowledge is readily available to be applied creatively and imaginatively. This syllabus is written so that a quarterback may prepare for the responsibility of directing his offense. That preparation would not be complete without an understanding of play selection, quarterback techniques, and the basic premises upon which the offense is designed.
