Mike Bracko
Mike Bracko, Ed.D., FACSM, is a sports physiologist and the director of the Institute for Hockey Research (www.hockeyinstitute.org) in Calgary, Canada. Dr. Bracko’s interest and involvement with hockey has spanned more than three decades, initially as a player and subsequently as a skating instructor and researcher. One of the most respected exercise scientists in his field, he has conducted extensive research on both the biomechanics of skating and the performance characteristics of hockey players. The results of his research provide the foundation for his efforts to develop high-performance skating programs. In addition to teaching skating to all competitive levels of both male and female players, Dr. Bracko works as the physiologist and skating coach for the University of Alberta women’s ice hockey team. He also serves as the physiologist for the U.S. Deaf Olympic team.
