Dave Van Halanger

Dave Van Halanger is the strength and conditioning coach at the University of Georgia, a position he assumed in 2001. A 1976 graduate of West Virginia, where he was a three-year starter as an offensive tackle on the Mountaineers' football team, Van Halanger began his legendary coaching career as a strength and conditioning professional in 1978 at his alma mater. After five years, he joined his collegiate gridiron coach, Bobby Bowden, at Florida State, where he then spent 18 seasons as the strength coach for the Gators' football team (1983-2000). During his 28 seasons of coordinating the conditioning efforts for major college football teams, he has worked with 29 NFL first-round draft picks and helped his teams achieve 18 top-10 finishes. In 2003, Van Halanger was inducted into the Strength and Conditioning Coach Hall of Fame.
