Paul Rhoads is the defensive coordinator and secondary coach at the University of Pittsburgh, a position he assumed in 2000. Since his arrival in Pittsburgh, Rhoads has molded the Panthers into one of the nation's top defensive units. Rhoads joined the Panthers after serving the previous five seasons (1995-'99) at Iowa State, where he was the secondary coach for his last four years after coaching the inside linebackers in 1995. Prior to that, Rhoads spent three years at Pacific (1992-'94) as the Tigers' defensive backs coach. Before that, he served as a graduate assistant at both Ohio State (1991) and Utah State (1989-'90). A 1989 graduate of Missouri Western, where he was a three-year letterwinner as a defensive back, Rhoads is widely respected as one of the top young coaches in the game.
