The Elite Wrestler (Second Edition) is for wrestlers who want to learn the mental and physical training tips used by some of our country’s top wrestlers at all levels. It identifies the 14 key character traits of champion wrestlers, both male and female, based on profiles of many of the greatest competitors man’s oldest sport has ever seen. These are characteristics all wrestlers can adopt to improve their performance and succeed on the mat and raise themselves to elite wrestler status.
The Elite Wrestler (Second Edition) provides anecdotes, research, reflections, and interviews to identify the specific traits of a top performer in wrestling and presents them in an easy-to-read narrative format. It offers the practical guidance all athletes can use to become more physically and mentally prepared for all the challenges they may confront on and off the mat.
Moreover, this book is for coaches who currently train elite wrestlers and for those coaches who want to. Coaches can learn how to transform average wrestlers to good wrestlers, good wrestlers to great, and great wrestlers into elite competitors either at the club (youth), middle school, high school, college, or post-college level. Plus, parent/guardians of wrestlers who want to support their son or daughter’s wrestling career level can find much to guide them in that endeavor in The Elite Wrestler (Second Edition).
From overcoming a setback to handling success, wrestlers (and coaches) can benefit from reading The Elite Wrestler (Second Edition) and soon become elite competitors.
Keith Manos’s book The Elite Wrestler is one that all coaches and athletes should read. It captures the real difference there is among being an elite wrestler and one who is just doing it for recreation. If you want to be the best and to know what it takes to get there, then you need to read this book.

Keith Manos has written a book every coach, wrestler, and parent should read. The Elite Wrestler definitely lists the characteristics we look for when recruiting wrestlers to come to Notre Dame College. In fact, this book almost serves as a checklist for college and high school coaches whenever they need to evaluate a wrestler’s physical and mental approach to the sport. I also think that wrestlers who read this book will be inspired by the examples that Keith provides about elite wrestlers, and their parents will benefit from knowing how closely their son or daughter matches up to elite wrestler status. I highly recommend this book.
