Scott Shafer

Scott Shafer is currently the defensive coordinator at the University of Michigan, a position he assumed in 2008. Before that, he held the same position at Stanford University during the 2007 season. One of the most respected defensive back coaches in the game, he served as the secondary coach for cornerbacks and safeties at Western Michigan University from 2005 to 2006. During the 2004 season, he served as the secondary coach at the University of Illinois. Before that, he spent the previous four seasons at Northern Illinois University as the defensive coordinator, where the Huskies tallied a record of 30-16. At every stop in his renowned career, Shafer has helped make his defensive squads into one of the top performing units in the country.
